Rockclimbing
Aid
When
rockclimbing it pays to have someone holding the other end of
the rope, this person is called the belayer. The belayer usually
has a device which they can pass the rope through to reduce the
load during a fall, this is called a belay device.
This
is the kind of safety device that your life depends on, so you
want to be sure every care has been taken in its design. The invention
shown here is a belay device designed totally at Oz Invent.
An
Industrial designer at Oz Invent came up with this new concept
for a belay device which had the advantage of being self-locking.
The
device allows the rope to be quickly fed through itself but in
the event of a fall the device automatically locks onto the rope
until the belayer decides to activate the release.
The
device saves precious time and falling distance and is a safeguard
against an off-guard belayer.

The
body of the device was machined from high grade Stainless Steel
and the arm was investment cast from the same material.

The
device was tested and refined inhouse before being sent to safety
testing labs in England. After passing safety testing, the device
was sent to several climbing gear manufactures around the world
for practical testing and marketing proposals.

For
inventors getting the whole job done in place, enables you to
keep control of the critical time and cost factors. |
